UK Season 5 - Piccolo Teatro - CLOSED

Open or closed? CLOSED
Location: Paris, France

Episode Summary: Rachel was playing at running a restaurant with waitress Stephanie, they run the restaurant very casually, cue the nutty Brazilian chef in the kitchen and it turns into a sitcom. The kitchen is filthy and there is off food. Gordon changes the menu and Rachel's father Brian (a successful restaurateur) brings in India, a very talented young chef, who turns the restaurant around for a successful relaunch.

What Happened next: Gordon revisits and the restaurant closed a few weeks after filming and Rachel's father was left to repay the loans. Rachel went on to become a hooker, yes you are reading that correct. India was initially offered work experience by Gordon Ramsay at Boxwood, she then went on to work at Shaw's International Bistro and later Cafe Fish, she was a fantastic asset to Rachel and she didn't see it, I expect good things will come from India, she is clearly a fantastic chef! Restaurant still for sale in 2009 and 2010, information needed on whether anything has opened there.

  1. Rachel was also sayin that throughout filming gordon was always trying to make a pass at her. I would not consider her a credible source though hehe she looks feral!

    1. She's about as credible of a source as her "friend" Stephanie who has untreated mental issues. A lazy whore and an un-medicated bipolar, now THERE are two ladies you can put your faith in, eh?

  2. When I saw this episode, I was shocked. Of course, India was excellent highlight.

  3. Seriously, i was astonished. i m french and i dont even understand how someone can make it in paris with that kind of work. gordon could not do anything for her, she is a lost cause.

  4. I am glad India is doing extremely well, she is mature, dedicated and apparently a good cook.

  5. Rachel was CLEARLY on some form of drug(s); her following "profession" only proves what I initially thought when I saw the episode ...

    1. The programme mentioned she's a single mother. I don't know what kind of child protective agencies they have in France, but it's baffling to me how the authorities hasn't taken the kid away, especially now that she's become a whore. Can't say I'm shocked though, anyone that lazy and unmotivated really only knows how to make money on their back, in the end.

    2. Just because someone is a prostitute doesn't mean that they're a bad mother. Women often times go into that line of work because they have children to support. Perhaps it is because she is lazy or maybe not, who cares. I hope you're not in any line of work that requires you to be emphatic.

    3. Well when you're too lazy to take care of a restaurant that daddy hands you on a silver platter and you get help from a big celebrity chef and you decide that it's easier to work on your back than actually put effort into it, then yes I do have to wonder about her capabilities as a mother.

  6. India is a lady who appears in Jamie Oliver's series "Ministry of Food". She appears there as a young mother, taught to cook by Jamie.
I hope that I am wrong, and we are not treated as consuming idiots.

    1. Really? I have been looking but can't find anything about this...What episode?

    2. No, this isn't true. Her full name is India Innes and she is still working as a chef. The only reference to her and Oliver on the same website is on this page. If you Google her there is an interview with her about working at Cafe Fish. She has nothing but good things to say about Gordon and calls him a "family man," which also discredits Rachel's claims about Gordon's passes.

  7. The forum post where Stephanie goes off makes me sick to my stomach. It's nothing but excuse after excuse from her and Rachel, isn't it? Oh, poor you, you're bipolar and you claim that it makes you unable to work because of exhaustion. bipolar disorder doesn't work that way honey, but it sure explains why you're such a pathetic, selfish primadonna! Take some prozac and learn to stand on your own two feet, for ghrissake!

Also, took a pass at her, my arse. Those two deserve the worst in life, and I hope they get it in spades. My heart goes out to Rachel's dad.

    1. You're underestimating how debilitating bipolar disorder can be. I know someone who was completely incapable of working (receive disability from the government) and died trying to cope with the disorder. The problem she pointed out is total BS because bipolar disorder effects your mood, not your ability to stand. Regardless "some prozac" doesn't make everything better, especially since it's not even the medication used to treat the disorder.

      Delete
    2. It's treated mainly with SSRIs, of which Prozac is one. And come on, dude. You SAW that little pampered princess. She lies through her teeth and cares not one bit about it. Bipolar disorder's no excuse and she certainly didn't have it bad enough to excuse her behavior and blatant disregard of everyone around her.

      Delete
    3. Not sure where you're getting your information but bipolar disorder is NOT treated mainly with SSRIs. It is mainly treated with mood stabilizers like depakote or lithium. SSRIs can be used to treat the depressive symptoms but are notorious for exacerbating other bipolar symptoms.

  8. I just watched the show. Rachel hung her hooters out in one of the best down the cleavage shots ever on TV. She struck me as not serious about the restaurant since it was only a credit card for her. The surprise ending about her becoming a hooker? Well I guess she didn't have the head for restaurant work. Do you think she is still vegetarian?

    1. LOL.

On a serious note: I feel for the dad. Gave his little princess anything she needed and she just m
played around with it, not giving a crap. Poor man.

Great episode though with Ramsay in full form. Loved how he ran the whole restaurant during lunch and also loved the vergetarian remarks.

  9. And so what was in that tomato bisque lunch that went over so well? It looked very tasty.

  10. I couldn't stand that horrible woman at all. It's disgusting that she had so little regard for her customers that she let food like that go out, and even more disgusting that she didn't take her business seriously at all when so many other livelihoods were depending on her. If she finds a better life as a prostitute, at least she's only going to let herself down if she fails at her new venture.

I agree that India made the episode worth watching. She was amazing! Hope she found success.

  11. What happened to the actual restaurant next, who took it over?

  12. I am watching the program right now, omg what a waste of time and effort, seriously if you are going to do something put all your passion into it to achieve the goals, she just seems like she doesn't care an she was playing on a barbie house that father gave to her.
Good for India , if someone is able to detect talent is Ramsey , he could be all the grumpy and kinda bad guy you want but he knows the business as no one and knows who deserves to have an oportunity too.
If you don't enjoy it don't do it and give other the tools don't waste them .

  13. I saw this episode recently, and I agree with a lot of you guys! Rachel and her friend are just so unbelievably lazy, it's no surprise their little restaurant failed. You all said it, Rachel had no idea as to running a business, nor did it seem she was willing to learn! And her friend wasn't much better! I really feel for the dad, for having to give her the money to run the place, only so she'd end up running it into the ground... Still, Gordon was right, the one bright spot in this whole mess was India (although the part timer did what she could to help). India had shown how much more mature, responsible, and driven than Rachel was, and I'm glad she's doing well!

    1. I don't feel sorry for the dad. He spoiled her rotten her whole life probably, and we got to see the result.

  14. I had a (paid) night with rachel. She should've paid more attention to the restaurant.

  15. I had a romp with Rachel in her new career. It was quite enjoyable. She's much more skilled in that profession.

  16. Anybody know how old is Rachel is? I'm guessing 30-ish, maybe even 35.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I thought the bollocking GR gave Rachel at the end before she walked out was the most honest and sincere dressing down I have ever seen the man give...not performing for TV, but giving a naughty child what she richly deserved.

  18. I found this episode really strange when I first watched it. It felt a lot more 'set up' that most others. When I saw Rachel's dad I could have sworn that I recognised him from somewhere. And then it hit me - he has been in 3 series of Channel 4's Late Night Poker, back in 2000 and 2001, as Brian 'the Cowboy' McNally. He even wrote a book, How to Play Poker and Win, which accompanied the series. If it wasn't for this, I doubt very much Rachel's restaurant would have featured on the show.

  19. Rachel was probably a looker in her day, fawned on by boys. During filming, she appeared to be a haggard 50 from all that smoking instead of 33. Probably spoiled by daddy from day one, her messes always cleaned up for her... goes and has a kid, of course, to mess up, esp. now she's a slag. Gross.

    1. Wait, she's only 33? Criminy...I thought she was closer to 40!

    2. She's got a voice like a Siamese cat, from all the amoking. That and her accent...

And Gordon - how the hell did he get such a 'lived in' face? He looks about 70!

  20. I want to see an update on Rachael, I really do. I hope her child was taken into protective custody and I hope she's miserable, alone and penniless. She clearly does not care one bit for her responsibilities and cares more for her bloody cat than her business or her own son.

  21. i can't believe that brazilian guy worked there as chef. He is a joke, a good entertainer but not good chef. The owner is below every pig. Of course nothing worked and now its closed. Logical.

  22. I don't know if Stephanie claimed that she herself has Bi-polar or Rachel has - the link is dead and gone. Despite, I now have a bit more compassion for the both of them. Bi-polar is not a joke and in various levels - a struggle. It now makes sense - going by the behavior - why the Restaurant went nowhere. I was DISGUSTED by a previous commenter's post - people have myriads of different struggles and trials and right now (as I write this or whomever is reading this) a human being is fighting through that "personal" struggle. It's not soft to feel for your fellow man - it's compassion. Not everyone; thing; or situation can be "fixed" with a "kick up the arse." Life, my dear, is not so simple-minded nor the stereotypical, "Black and White."

  23. That chef Daniel is a complete nob-head! Horrible, little man with no respect for the people he serves or the people who pay him. The way he runs of down the road, he is like some odd little French Charlie Chaplin - a Charlot.

  24. I'm sick to death of seeing Gordon kissing people. Can't you just shake hands instead of all this silly, sloppy, squelchy kissing? I just watched Morgans before this one, and he was all over those 4 women too.

The owner is so stupid! Gordon shows them how much they can make in ONE lunchtime, yet she ignores it. I suppose we all guilty of that, so call it human nature. Someone has even written a book called 'I know what to do so why don't I do it?' so...
